Family Haven receives grant funding through the state of Georgia for victim services specific to our mission and vision, and from donations from those who understand the generational impact of helping women and children break the cycle of domestic violence.

The local stores and some generous people help with food, clothing, even employment assistance yet the need to continue, expand and promote these services requires financial support.

The statistics on domestic violence in Georgia and Forsyth County are staggering.

Adopt-a-Family Program: At Christmas and throughout the year Family Haven identifies families who need your support financially and through gifts of clothes, toys, vehicles, and financial. If you would like to adopt a family please contact Amy Barfield, Executive Director for information on how you can make a difference.

Gift Cards: These are maintained by the emergency shelter and temporary housing programs and provided to women who need a gentle helping hand with groceries, clothing, transportation.

AmazonSmile is a quick and easy way to donate to Family Haven. A very small portion of your purchase amount is donated back to the organization. Amazonsmile donates 0.5% of eligible purchases. You can search amazon for amazon smile products and look for the in the description.

Volunteer: Becoming a volunteer provides you a unique way to help these families. Because of their situation we use strict assessment of each person considering joining us.

We need the help of community members like you to accomplish our mission. Please view the list of volunteer opportunities below to find out how you can become involved today!

Fundraising Events– Volunteer- works with a team to coordinate and facilitate fundraising events.
Fundraising Volunteer– Help work at annual fundraisers.
Crisis Line Volunteer– Help with answering crisis calls. Includes all calls responding to domestic violence or sexual assault.
Children’s Advocate- Assists in outings and activities during summer and holidays.
Life Skills Facilitator– Facilitates group at shelter teaching everyday skills. For example, writing resumes, dressing for a job interview, finance, etc.
All volunteer positions are required to attend regular training meetings through the year. Some positions require more training than others.
Due to the nature of our services, volunteers with significant contact with clients must undergo a criminal background check and all volunteers will be asked to complete a volunteer application and have a personal interview.
